Blackwing’s Volume 57 pencil is a tribute to the artwork of Jean-Michel Basquiat. It celebrates his style: bold, edgy, and raw, balancing contradictions and pushing boundaries. The pencil’s design captures elements of his work, from the bold swoops of color on the casing to the three-pointed crown motif printed on the ferrule. The number 57 is a reference to 57 Great Jones Street in New York City, Basquiat’s last apartment where he created some of his best-known works.
Like all Blackwing pencils, Volume 57 features incense-cedar casing, Japanese graphite, and an iconic refillable square eraser.
